Family office software:
features and costs.
Family office software brings all your assets together in one system. What it should be able to do, what it costs and what to look for when choosing one.
Family office software is software that families and entrepreneurs use to organise all their assets themselves: accounts, securities accounts, real estate, investments and companies in one system, with up-to-date figures, organised receipts and clear access rights. For families without a family office of their own, it is an intermediate step between an Excel spreadsheet and a team of their own: more structure than a spreadsheet, without the cost of their own staff.
Large family offices with their own team also rely on specialised software: in the UBS Global Family Office Report 2026, just over half (52%) of the 307 family offices surveyed said they use financial reporting software from an external party. The family offices surveyed were UBS clients with average assets of US$1.3 billion.
What family office software should do
- Complete overview: all your assets across every bank, company and asset class, with balances and prices updated daily.
- Bank connection: balances and transactions come in automatically instead of being added by hand.
- Structure and consolidation: people, holding company, companies and foundations with their ownership percentages, with the figures rolled up across every level.
- Receipts and documents: invoices, contracts and statements assigned to the right company and the right property, and handed over to your adviser in full.
- Reports: wealth reports for the family, the bank or the advisory board, without having to put them together again each time.
- Liquidity: which payments will come in and go out over the next few months.
- Roles and permissions: family, assistants, property managers and advisers see only what they are meant to see.
- Security: a clear data location, protected access and a traceable record of who changed, approved or exported what and when.
Who family office software is suitable for
For families and entrepreneurs whose assets are spread across several companies, properties, securities accounts and investments and for whom a family office of their own does not pay off, or who want to keep the work in their own hands instead of handing it over to a service provider. Typical signs: gathering receipts regularly takes time, several people are involved, and nobody knows the overall figure at the push of a button. The guide Excel or family office software? describes when a spreadsheet is no longer enough. What a family office actually does is explained in the guide What is a family office? Meaning and tasks.
What does family office software cost?
What family office software costs depends above all on the pricing model of the provider. So compare all the components, not just the monthly fee:
- Licence: Is the price based on assets, on the number of users or on the modules booked? Do you pay monthly or annually?
- Setup: Is an implementation project needed, and what does it cost?
- Data connection: Are bank interfaces or price data charged separately?
- Scope of features: Are reports, receipts and planning included in the price, or do they cost extra?
- Your own time: How much upkeep does the software need, and how much work does it take off your hands?
Costs compared
For context, four common ways of organising assets:
| Approach | Running costs | What you get for it |
|---|---|---|
| Excel and folders | Hardly any additional costs, but a lot of your own time | Flexibility, but little automation |
| Family office software | Monthly fee, with Finaure €59 to €690 a month depending on assets, on request for assets over €150m | The tools of a family office, which you operate yourself |
| Multi-family office | Agreed individually | Support from a team that takes over the processes for you |
| Your own family office | Operating costs excluding investment fees averaged US$2.6 million a year at European family offices with less than US$500 million in assets (on average US$249 million and 7 employees; Campden Wealth and HSBC, 2024) | Your own team, full control |
The figures come from different sources and are not directly comparable.
What Finaure costs
Finaure publishes its prices. The tier depends solely on your gross assets, that is, the total of all recorded values without deducting loans. Every tier includes all features with unlimited users, accounts and entities.
| Tier | Gross assets | Price per month |
|---|---|---|
| S | up to €5m | €59 |
| M | €5m to 25m | €119 |
| L | €25m to 75m | €239 |
| XL | €75m to 150m | €690 |
| Individual | over €150m | On request |
All prices incl. VAT. If you pay annually, you pay 10 instead of 12 monthly payments. The only extra you can book is an AI add-on, in case the monthly AI credit is not enough. No implementation project is needed, as you set up Finaure yourself. 14 days free. After that, your chosen subscription starts automatically unless you cancel beforehand. What to look for when choosing
- Data location: Where is the data stored, and who at the provider can see it?
- Bank connection: Does it run through a supervised service provider, and where are your bank login details stored?
- Independence: Does the provider earn money from financial products or only from the software?
- Structure: Can investments across several levels and partial ownership be mapped?
- Handover to advisers: Is there an export in the format your adviser uses, for example DATEV?
- Permissions: Can permissions be granted per company and per property?
- Prices and contract: Are the prices known in advance, is there a trial period, and how long does the contract run?
Where Finaure fits
Finaure is family office software from Frankfurt am Main for wealthy individuals, entrepreneurial families and holding companies. Accounts and securities accounts at banks, mainly in Germany and Austria, are connected via finAPI, an account information service supervised by BaFin, Germany’s financial supervisory authority. You keep other accounts up to date using uploaded bank statements. The data is stored in a data centre in the EU (Frankfurt region). The AI reads receipts and suggests the company and property they belong to, and you review and confirm. The handover to your adviser uses formats such as DATEV. Finaure does not sell financial products and does not give advice; its revenue comes solely from the fees for the software. You can find all features under Features, and a first impression on the home page.
